Hydroponic Systems to promote irrigation water savings in horticulture at Fruit Attraction

  • The Spanish firm will be exhibiting its protected cultivation units with Spacer and channel that allow drainage to be reused, thus saving around 80% in irrigation and fertilisers.

Saving irrigation water in horticulture is one of the measures that can help to combat drought and climate change, problems that plague many countries. One of them is Spain, whose capital, Madrid, is hosting Fruit Attraction 2023, one of the most important meetings of the agricultural sector in Europe, this October.

During the fair, Hydroponic Systems will be exhibiting its protected cultivation systems, various units for fruit and vegetables capable of collecting the drainage from the substrate bags after irrigation, so that they can be reused in subsequent cycles, saving around 80% in water and fertilisers.

This has a direct impact on farmers’ pockets, but also on the environment, as it reduces the pressure on our planet’s water reserves.

In this respect, Hydroponic Systems will also be showing visitors to Fruit Attraction its latest innovation. This is an innovative system that reduces the use of plastic in semi-hydroponic strawberry crops by one and a half tonnes. In this way, this system makes it possible to use the substrate in bulk, or the formula desired by the grower, without the need to use the traditional sacks or growbags.

Anyone who would like to get to know these systems will be able to do so at stand 7D20, where Hydroponic Systems will be exhibiting together with the rest of the companies that form part of Agritech Murcia.
